The Kids

Forgive me for being a bit sentimental but I love my kids. They are crazy cute. We frosted cookies, and Red only ate frosting.
So we went to a truck or treat at one of our cities fantastic parks. The castle playgrounds has no equal. My son and I had a great time going down the never ending slide. They loved it. Red was cookie monster as can be seen below.

The other was a pumpkin. (Smiley is the pumpkin with the face, on the left in case your not sure.)

Smiley has taken to sitting on his food whenever he can get away with it. I am not sure why but he sure thinks it's funny.

We sure are attractive folk.

Give me your worst!

My son and daughter went in to get their shots a few days ago. Usually a very loud, emotional experience. When they brought out the long sharp needle Red gave it a brief condescending look that said, "Yeah, whatever dude." Then as the doctor approached with the sharp instrument Red didn't fuse, cringe, cry or even move. She was either going to show baby how to take such things in stride, or showing that the doctor's days of terror have come to an end. Even after the cold needled touched skin her demeanor failed to change. She was calm, collected and cool through he entire ordeal. (Which was a sight better than dad did giving blood last week. I can barlel keep myself from screaming.)
Smiley, however, refused to go without a fight, and let everyone in the building know what he thought of them and their shots.

My kids are totally kick ass.

"England expects that every man will do his duty"

If you woke up this morning think today was just another stupid, boring Tuesday you would spend at your mind numbing job, you are mistaken. Not about spending another mind numbing day at work, or that this is Tuesday, but that this is just any day. Today, Oct 21, is the anniversary of the epic Battle of Trafalgar, where the English Fleet under command of Lord Nelson defeated Admiral Villeneuve's Franco-Spanish Fleet of the Spanish coast, preventing the ogre, Napoleon from setting a foul, sweaty, toe on English soil.

Please join me in an on-line toast. To HMS Victory's and the British fleet's ability to open a can of hearty kick ass.

Christopher Columbus

For those of who who didn't know (or care) yesterday was Columbus Day. I generally ignore any holiday I don't get a day off from, but not this time. Columbus may have been a bit of a tool at times but I take my hat off to any man willing to pick a direction and sail off into the unknown.

However, I feel as a decedent of the Nordic Countries I must also take my hat off to Mr Leif Ericson who really discovered the New World, and would crush Columbus in a cage match, with or without weapons.

To Boldly Go

A month ago the CFO of our company asked me what kind of television shows I enjoyed watching. The general answer to this simple question is Science Fiction. A more specific answer would be Star Trek, Dr Who and Firefly. The answer I gave was that my favorite show were mysteries. Not really a lie but not the whole truth. The CFO is a former Pro Baseball player and the very definition of cool. When one admits to being a "trekkie" certain assumptions are made, none of which are very faltering. Thus you can perhaps understand my reluctance to admit such a thing.

Life is to short to be overly concerned with such things but since I acted like a Targ (A kind of Klingon dog) I thought I would make recompense for this base disloyalty by dedicate this entire post to Science Fiction.

I have listed some of the trivia I have picked up over the years. Please don't mistake this for bragging, no sane person would take pride that they have wasted valuable brain power remembering this kind of crap. I did not use the internet, these are thing I really have stored in "my little gray cells."

1. The self destruct code for the USS Enterpirse is
11A
11A2B
1B2B3
000 Destruct 0 (000 Destruct 1 I beleive will cause a warp core breach)
2. "Kapla" is the Klingon word for Success and I use is as often as can get away with. Qo'noS happens to be the Klingon home world. I even know why Klingon's don't have ridges on their foreheads in the original series, but won't go into the details here.
2. I Here is a list of quotes I have quietly and careful worked into presentations.
"What does God need with a starship?"
"Time is a Luxury you do not have."
"Resistance is futile."
"Assimilate this!"
"KHAN!!!!!" (This one usually gets a few looks)
"That green-blooded son of a bitch!"
"What we leave behind is as important as how we’ve lived."
"One damn minute, Admiral."
"
Believing oneself to be perfect is often the sign of a delusional mind."
"Don't try to understand it; it's far beyond your limited ability to comprehend."

3. This might sound kind of like an oxymoron but I can intelligently argue why the an Imperial Star Destroy is no match for the Enterprise.
4. Daleks come from the planet Skaro and were created by the evil and psychotic genius named Davros. They hate everyone and everything include kittens, pie, tacos, Chinese food and humans. I am always impressed they can be so formidable with a toilet plunger as an arm. Time and time again they show up shouting "Exterminate." I have worked long and hard on my Dalek impression. 5. Firefly has made me cry one more than one occasion, really weepy tears.
6. The USS Prometheus is a long range tactcal vessel with mutli vecter assalt mode, meaning she can split into three indepedent attack units. She can be crewed by as few as four poeple. Apparently she fairly easy to steal.

So there you have it. For those of you still reading, I am impressed with your dedication.

Live Long and Prosper, and remeber,

"You can know all the math in the 'Verse, but take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her home."

Our House is a Very, Very Fine House

As promised here are some photos of our house.

Here is the tour.
The Computer Room/Office/Archive/Arsenal

TV Room/Exercise Room/Lounge/Bar/Overseer Command Post # 4 (There is a dry bar but I did not show it. I don't want people to ge the wrong idea about us.)
Kitchen complete with proper table purchased from KSL from a very nice gay man, with superb taste.
Our living room complete with mirco-fiber couches. (These were a gift and we love them! I almost can't wait for Red to vomit on them to see how easy they are to clean.)
(Smiley working on his novel. I think it's title is "Walking, and You: The Preferred mode of Transportation for the Modern Baby" but I think he is still working that out.

The kids when we unpacked them. Don't worry they were one of the first things we unpacked. We had the surprise visit from the Elder Quorum Presidency. They helped me move my new treadmill and were shockingly polite. Apparently our ward has a kick ass basketball team. I often wonder what a ward wrestling team would be like. I of course did not say this. I like people to think I am kind of normal for as long as possible. Luckily they didn't see my elaborate Star Trek model ship collection. They seemed quite nice, not that our old ward wasn't. Apparently fishing is the other big hobby in the ward.
